10,000 transportation technology professionals from 65 countries are coming to Detroit!

Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) will host its 21st World Congress in Detroit from Sept. 7 to 11, 2014.  Touted as the world’s largest transportation technology exhibition, the event will highlight intelligent transportation systems and offer high-tech solutions to improve transportation safety, efficiency, sustainability and connectivity.

Participants will include national, regional and local officials along with transportation innovators, business leaders, investors, researchers and entrepreneurs from across the globe.

“We live in an increasingly connected world, with technology changing not only the way we live, work and travel but also how businesses and our nation compete in the global economy,” said Scott Belcher, president and CEO of the Intelligent Transportation Society of America.   “From connected and autonomous vehicles to advanced traffic management systems and real-time traffic, transit and parking apps, the World Congress will showcase technologies that are changing transportation today as well as next generation innovations that are reinventing mobility for future generations.”

Activities will include more than 250 programmatic panels, roundtables and interactive town hall sessions in a 350,000-square-foot space at the newly refurbished Cobo Hall as well as at Belle Isle.

The county’s business development team is excited for this opportunity to interact with company leaders from all over the world and promote our region as an ideal place to establish operations.  With approval from the ITS World Congress Planning Committee, Macomb County will host the following activities to highlight the county and network with participants:

  • A tour of the newly opened Macomb County Communications and Technology Center (COMTEC), thought to be the nation’s first and largest operations center of its kind
  • A hospitality tent on Belle Isle in partnership with other economic development agencies
  • A Motown dinner cruise on the impressive 138-foot Ovation Yacht

As with most conferences, these activities involve an additional fee from the participant to help cover expenses.
